Renowned Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, has passed away at the age of 94.

According to a family source, the elder statesman died in the early hours of Friday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, after a brief illness. He reportedly passed away around 3:00 a.m. Nigerian time at a hospital in the UAE capital.

Funeral arrangements, the source added, will be announced in due course.

Born on May 19, 1931, in Kano, Alhaji Dantata was a towering figure in Nigeria’s business and industrial landscape. He played a significant role in shaping the country’s private sector over several decades and was widely respected for his contributions to national development and philanthropy.

A pillar of the Dantata dynasty, he was deeply involved in commerce, construction, and several other sectors, leaving a legacy of integrity, leadership, and service.

He is survived by seven children and numerous grandchildren. Among them is Alhaji Tajuddeen Aminu Dantata, who continues in his father’s entrepreneurial footsteps.

Alhaji Aminu Dantata’s death marks the end of an era for Nigeria’s business community and northern elite, as tributes continue to pour in from across the country.
