Former President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that his health has significantly improved since stepping down from office on May 29, 2023.
Speaking during an All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting at the Katsina State Government House, Buhari attributed his improved health to relief from the demands and complexities of leading Nigeria.
“Those outside the corridors of power do not understand the complexities and difficulties facing Nigeria,” Buhari said. “My health has improved since leaving office. People who visited me told me I look better than before.”
Buhari, who served two terms as President before handing over to his successor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, faced numerous health challenges during his tenure. These issues necessitated several trips abroad for medical treatment, sparking national conversations about his fitness for office.
Reflecting on his time in power, Buhari suggested that the pressures of managing Nigeria’s numerous challenges took a toll on his well-being, a burden he no longer bears.
The former President’s remarks come months after his retirement from public office, during which he has largely stayed out of the political spotlight.
