Dr. Doyin Okupe, a former presidential aide and prominent Nigerian politician, has passed away at the age of 72.
Sources close to the family confirm that Okupe died on Friday morning after a prolonged battle with an illness suspected to be cancer.
A seasoned political strategist, Okupe was appointed as the Director-General of the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign for the 2023 election. However, he stepped down following a court conviction related to alleged money laundering.
Reports indicate that he had been critically ill in the weeks leading up to his passing.
