The governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, has praised efforts made by several non-governmental and commercial organizations to support the state’s rehabilitation process following the ten-year destruction caused by Boko Haram, particularly in the field of education.
In Maiduguri, where he was receiving a block of four schools constructed by Vitafoam Nigeria in a crowded section of the capital that was previously under Boko Haram’s control, he gave the commendation.
“We have suffered a lot in the past and many organisations have been coming to support the state but we’re happy an indigenous entity has come to help the state to aid our recovery process.”
The company’s participation, according to the governor, who was accompanied by his deputy, Alhaji Umar Kadafur, will speed up the state education sector’s recovery. The state education sector has been the target of rebels since 2009.
Taiwo Adeniyi, the group managing director of Vitafoam, stated that the company’s corporate duty to the community in which it conducts business included donating a classroom block to a Borno community impacted by the insurgency.
According to him, the organization focused on primary education in order to lay the groundwork. In addition to the classrooms, he stated that a nice learning atmosphere was supplied by the teachers’ and students’ desks, chairs, modern whiteboards, and books.
“We are aware that basic education is key to the progress of any man. We believe once we have a solid foundation in education, the rest is history. Once we get children out of the streets, then there won’t be young people to recruit for nefarious activities,” he stated.
