Bode George to Peter Obi: What Are You Doing in ADC? Return to PDP and Fight Tinubu Together

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has expressed surprise over the presence of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the newly formed opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Bode George called on all former members of the PDP who have defected to other platforms to return and work together ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that only a united opposition can successfully challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“We were in crisis for a while because of the issue of who would sign to INEC, but we’ve been able to resolve that. Now, you see the situation in Nigeria — those who are jumping ship, I wish them the best. But let’s not forget, the people who matter are the electorate,” George said.

He criticized what he described as self-centered motivations behind the movement of some politicians to the ADC. “Those people who are there [in ADC] benefited from this party. Do you disown your father’s house? What are you looking for if not for personal reasons? Selfishness. And when I saw Obi there, I was wondering what he was doing there,” he added.

George maintained that the PDP remains a viable platform for reclaiming power in 2027, urging opposition leaders to close ranks rather than divide their efforts.

Other key figures in the coalition include former Senate President David Mark, former Governors Chibuike Amaechi and Nasir El-Rufai, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. The coalition’s objective is to present a formidable political front capable of unseating the Tinubu-led administration in the next general election.
