Chief Olabode George, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and member of its Board of Trustees, has strongly condemned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over the recent sealing of the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
In an interview with Arise Television on Monday, George described the action as a betrayal of the very party that nurtured Wike’s political career, calling it “sacrilegious, unacceptable, and culturally inadmissible.”
“This is the party that brought you to life,” George said, directing his outrage at Wike. “It’s like going back to your village and locking up your family house over unpaid ground rent. How much were we owing? Seven million naira – which you could easily have paid.”
The secretariat was sealed just hours before the PDP was set to hold a high-level National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. George characterized the move as both deliberate and politically dangerous.
Recalling Wike’s rise through the ranks of the PDP, George highlighted that the party had provided him with every major political opportunity—from local government chairman to chief of staff, two-term governor of Rivers State, and now minister.
He also challenged Wike to investigate whether the All Progressives Congress (APC) headquarters in Abuja has met similar obligations. “People could be careless,” he noted, “but this is not a monumental amount of money.”
George concluded by describing the FCT authority’s action as malicious and an affront to the PDP’s legacy.
The development has sparked renewed tension within the party, further deepening internal divisions ahead of key political activities.
