Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has reappointed three of his former cabinet members as special advisers, less than 48 hours after relieving them of their roles as commissioners.
The announcement, which takes immediate effect, was made on Tuesday through a statement by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado. According to the statement, the appointments are part of the governor’s strategy to maintain continuity and leverage the expertise of the former commissioners to advance his administration’s developmental agenda.
The reappointed officials and their new roles include Abdulhameed Bununu, formerly the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, now Special Adviser on Multilateral Coordination and Regional Integration; Usman Danturaki, formerly the Commissioner for Information and Communication, now Special Adviser on Labour Matters and Contributory Pension Scheme; and Madugu Yalams, formerly the Commissioner for Agriculture, now Special Adviser on Technical and Vocational Education.
Governor Mohammed commended the appointees for their dedication and expertise, urging them to channel their experience towards achieving the administration’s developmental goals. He stated that the appointments reflect the administration’s resolve to ensure inclusivity, effective leadership, and optimal service delivery to the people of Bauchi State.
He further emphasized the importance of diligence, transparency, and citizen-focused governance in the appointees’ new roles.
The reappointments follow a major cabinet reshuffle earlier on Tuesday, during which the governor dismissed five commissioners. This move, according to the governor, aims to reinvigorate governance and improve service delivery across the state.
Governor Mohammed reiterated his commitment to fostering effective governance and ensuring that his administration remains responsive to the needs of the people of Bauchi State.
