Former Vice Presidents Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Namadi Sambo paid a courtesy visit on Friday to former Minister of Interior and ex-Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, at his country home in Ilesa, Osun State.

The high-profile visit came just hours before the coronation ceremony of the 49th Owa Obokun and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup.

In a video posted on his official X handle, Atiku was seen driving into Aregbesola’s residence, where the former Osun governor warmly received him. Both leaders, accompanied by their loyalists, were seen entering the residence for a closed-door meeting.

“Breakfast time at the residence of former Governor of Osun State, Engr Rauf Aregbesola,” Atiku captioned the video.

The meeting attracted several key political figures from Osun State, including former APC State Chairman Lowo Adebiyi, Chairman of the Omoluabi Progressives, Alhaji Azeez Adesiji, former Secretary to the State Government Moshood Adeoti, and ex-Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Najeem Salaam.

Atiku’s visit is seen as part of ongoing consultations and coalition-building efforts by opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a separate post, Atiku also shared his arrival at Akure Airport in nearby Ondo State, stating, “I was warmly received by stakeholders on arrival at the Akure Airport in Ondo State, ahead of the coronation of the 49th HRH Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup today.”
