Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rein in his son, Seyi Tinubu, following serious allegations of assault, abduction, and inducement.

In a statement released by his media aide, Paul Ibe, Atiku condemned what he described as a troubling incident involving the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Atiku Isah. Isah had alleged that he was physically assaulted, kidnapped, and offered inducements by Seyi Tinubu in a bid to secure political loyalty for the President.

Atiku described the allegations as “deeply alarming,” warning that they undermine democratic principles and civil liberties. “Such grave accusations against a member of the first family are both disturbing and dangerous,” the statement read.

The former Vice President further stated: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu must urgently rein in his family members, particularly his son, Seyi Tinubu, who appears determined to purchase political loyalty for his father by any means necessary — including coercion, violence, and intimidation.”

He expressed concern over claims that top security officials may be compromised by Seyi Tinubu’s influence, describing it as “an unacceptable erosion of state institutions.”

Atiku also accused the President’s family of attempting to subjugate civil society groups such as NANS through threats, bribery, and force. He urged Nigerians to speak out against what he called a dangerous trend.

“Well-meaning Nigerians must rise to speak out,” he said. “The presidency is a public trust, not a private inheritance.”

Dismissing attempts to link him politically to NANS President Atiku Isah, Atiku Abubakar labelled such claims as baseless, malicious, and desperate.
