Arewa Youth Council Blasts Atiku, Accuses Him of Desperation and Hypocrisy

The Arewa Youth Council has issued a scathing rebuke of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, accusing him of bitterness and political desperation following his repeated electoral defeats.

In a statement released on Thursday in Kaduna, President of the Council, Comrade Adams Reuben, described Atiku’s continued criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as hypocritical and driven by personal frustration after multiple failed attempts to clinch the presidency.

“It is laughable and shameful that a man who oversaw the reckless privatisation of Nigeria’s national assets now parades himself as a reformer,” Reuben said. “Atiku might be suffering from senility or early-stage brain fatigue triggered by his serial rejections at the polls.”

The youth leader accused Atiku of presiding over the controversial sale of strategic government-owned entities such as the Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL) and the Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON), claiming the actions left millions of Nigerians impoverished.

“How does a man deeply involved in weakening Nigeria’s economic foundation now question a leader who is working hard to fix the damage?” Reuben asked.

The Council also dismissed Atiku’s recent call for a coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing it as a “failed train heading nowhere.”

“This so-called coalition is a gathering of political orphans desperate to stay relevant. Atiku is not just the conductor of this failed train — he’s also its last passenger,” the statement read.

Reuben praised President Tinubu for winning the presidency on his first attempt, noting that it was a testament to Nigerians’ trust in his leadership and vision.

“Atiku has contested six times and failed. He should realise that Nigerians have moved on. His bitterness will not change the fact that the country is now led by a thinker, a builder, and a true leader,” he added.

The Arewa Youth Council concluded by urging Atiku to step away from public commentary and stop distracting the current administration.

“We will not stay silent while those with tainted legacies attempt to rewrite history and divide the nation under the guise of political opposition,” the group warned.
