Arewa Group Slams Military Over Bello Badejo’s Detention, Demands Immediate Release

0

The Arewa for Justice Assembly has condemned the re-arrest and detention of Bello Badejo, leader of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, by the Nigerian military, describing the act as unconstitutional and inhumane.

Badejo, who has been battling severe health issues, was reportedly seized from his cattle farm despite a previous six-month detention without charges, after which he was declared innocent. His re-arrest has sparked outrage, with critics accusing the military of gross human rights violations and undermining the rule of law.

In a statement signed by Comrade Musa Garba Yola, the group criticized the military for subjecting Badejo and his family to emotional trauma, while tarnishing Nigeria’s image both locally and internationally.

“It is shocking and inhumane that, despite his fragile health, the military rearrested him on his cattle farm. This blatant abuse of power not only violates his fundamental rights but also undermines Nigeria’s democratic principles,” the statement read.

The group demanded Badejo’s immediate and unconditional release, urging authorities to intervene and ensure justice. It warned that such actions erode public trust in the military and judicial systems, emphasizing the need for a renewed commitment to the rule of law.

“This is not just about Bello Badejo; it is about upholding justice, fairness, and respect for the rights of all Nigerians,” the statement concluded.
