The All Progressives Congress (APC) Anambra elders forum has urged President Bola Tinubu to expand the number of ministerial posts for the South East.
While briefing reporters on Saturday in Awka, the elders implored Mr. President to remember the sacrifices made by some party members during the battle to make the party strong in the zone.
Chief Innocent Obi, head of the elders’ forum, stated that while the APC did not win in the South East during the presidential election, APC members were successful in blocking other parties from writing statistics that could have given them victory.
Obi stated that they were not criticizing the president’s choices for cabinet positions, but were only seeking fairness and justice from President Tinubu.
“During the formation of the party, some of our members moved from Damaturu to Borno, Sokoto, and other areas.
“At the same time that Dr. Chudi Nwike, AC South East coordinator and former deputy governor, was kidnapped and murdered, Chief Alex Anielo, ACD’s founding chairman, died on his way to Kaduna.
“By increasing the number, we pleaded with our own Jagaban to reconsider our plight in the South East. The South East should be brought up to speed with the rest of the country,” Obi stated.
