Anambra 2025: N50 Million Campaign Fee Mandatory for Governorship Candidates — ANSAA

In a bold regulatory move ahead of the Anambra 2025 governorship election, the Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency (ANSAA) has mandated a campaign permit fee of ₦50 million for each of the 16 political parties fielding candidates.

The agency announced the directive on Wednesday during a press conference in Awka, stating that the fee is a prerequisite for any political campaign activity in the state. This includes the use of posters, billboards, branded vehicles, public address systems, T-shirts, caps, rallies, and other promotional materials across the 21 local government areas.

Speaking to journalists, Mr. Tony Ujubuonu, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ANSAA, clarified that the policy applies uniformly to all political parties — including the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who is seeking re-election.

“The permit comes with a statutory fee of Fifty Million Naira (₦50,000,000) only, payable to the Anambra State government account,” Ujubuonu stated.

He emphasized that the regulation is not targeted at any political group but is aimed at ensuring a level playing field, maintaining professional standards, and preventing visual pollution in public spaces.

“This campaign fee grants the parties the right to deploy their campaign materials and activities… in cities, villages, and communities across the state,” he added.

ANSAA, which was established by law in 2010, is responsible for regulating out-of-home advertising and controlling the use of outdoor advertising infrastructure in Anambra State.

Campaigns officially kicked off on Wednesday, in line with the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The much-anticipated Anambra Governorship Election is scheduled to hold on November 8, 2025.

INEC has confirmed that 16 political parties will participate in the race, setting the stage for what promises to be a fiercely contested election in the Southeast state.
