…as ICC Abuja is commissioned and renamed in Tinubu’s honour
President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to disregard public criticism, stating that visible transformation is taking place across the country under his administration.
Akpabio made the remarks on Tuesday during the official commissioning of the newly rehabilitated International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja. He praised the scope of the renovation work, saying it reflects the broader national development being implemented by the Tinubu-led government.
“Mr. President, the renovation, rehabilitation, and transformation that we are witnessing at the ICC is what you are bringing to this country, whether people like it or not. The Nigerian parliament is very proud of you,” Akpabio stated.
The Senate President, who previously served as governor of Akwa Ibom State, maintained that the transformation witnessed at the ICC mirrors ongoing infrastructural improvements nationwide.
In a symbolic move during the ceremony, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, who oversaw the rehabilitation project, announced that the ICC has been renamed in honour of President Bola Tinubu. He also revealed that moving forward, the usage of the facility will be at the discretion of the FCT minister.
In his response, President Tinubu expressed appreciation for the gesture and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructural renewal and national development.
