Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to equitable development across all regions of the state, with a special focus on empowering women and youths.
Speaking during the convention of the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), Governor Aiyedatiwa said his government was not merely paying lip service to inclusive governance but had actively created an enabling environment for businesses to thrive while launching targeted empowerment initiatives.
Represented by his Special Adviser on Women Affairs, Dr. Seun Osamaye, the governor revealed plans for an upcoming week-long empowerment programme aimed specifically at women across the state.
At the event, over 1,000 women and youths received empowerment packages under a collaborative initiative between the state government and the NCWS.
President of the NCWS Ondo State chapter, Bishop Oluseyi Odusola, emphasized the organization’s long-standing role in promoting women’s rights and welfare. She reaffirmed the council’s commitment to community development and gender inclusion.
“We are not second to any organization, and the history of NCWS cannot be rewritten in Nigeria. We will continue to champion the voices of women and push for their active participation in nation-building,” Bishop Odusola said.
Also speaking at the event, the Ondo State Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Felicia Amaka Anara, stressed the importance of empowering women and youths as a national strategy to tackle illegal migration. According to her, limited access to capital, skills training, and decision-making platforms continues to hinder their growth and contribution to society.
The event marks another milestone in the Aiyedatiwa-led administration’s efforts to prioritize human capital development and foster inclusive economic growth in Ondo State.
