Adeleke’s Defection Will Be a Game-Changer for APC in 2027 — Youth Faction

The APC Youth Liberation Movement, a faction under the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has declared that a possible defection by Governor Ademola Adeleke to the APC would significantly boost the party’s chances of clinching victory in the 2027 general elections.

In a statement signed by its State Coordinator, Comrade Ajasa Oluwaseun, the group described Adeleke’s potential move as a “strategic masterstroke” that would reposition the party for electoral success, citing his widespread popularity and political track record in Osun State.

Ajasa recalled Adeleke’s impressive political journey, noting that in the 2017 Osun West senatorial bye-election, he defeated the APC candidate in nine out of ten local governments, despite the APC controlling both the state and federal governments at the time.

“In the 2018 governorship election, he gave our candidate, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, a tough contest, and by 2022, he returned to defeat a sitting governor,” Ajasa stated. “His defection, should it happen, is a welcome development and a significant political advantage for the APC.”

He added that Governor Adeleke has a constitutional right to join any political party and urged the APC leadership to embrace him as a valuable asset ahead of the 2027 elections.

The youth group also condemned recent remarks by former Osun State Deputy Governor and ex-APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, who reportedly referred to Governor Adeleke as an “orphan.”

Describing the comment as “unfortunate, unstatesmanlike, and divisive,” the group urged APC leaders to avoid inflammatory rhetoric and instead focus on uniting the party.

“At a time when all hands should be on deck to reposition the APC, such language from a senior party figure is distasteful and counterproductive,” the statement concluded.
