The Interim National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over what he described as the growing hardship and economic suffering endured by Nigerians.
Speaking during a live appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Abdullahi accused state governors and presidential aides of shielding the President from the harsh realities on ground, claiming they often feed him with false narratives to remain in his favour.
“I feel sorry for Tinubu,” Abdullahi stated. “President Tinubu needs to leave the Aso Villa, go to the streets, and talk to the people. He should stop listening to governors who only say what they think he wants to hear, not what Nigerians are actually going through.”
Abdullahi warned that the worsening economic situation was becoming unbearable for many citizens, and called on the President to take urgent steps in reconnecting with the grassroots and directly experiencing the effects of his administration’s policies.
He emphasised that genuine leadership requires not just policy decisions from within the corridors of power, but also a willingness to engage with the people and understand their daily struggles.
The ADC, one of Nigeria’s opposition parties, has remained vocal in its criticism of the current administration, accusing it of neglecting the social and economic welfare of citizens in the face of inflation, insecurity, and rising unemployment.
