ADC Slams PDP Governors for Holding Zamfara Meeting Amid Fresh Bandit Attacks

ABUJA — The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has berated governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for convening a political meeting in Zamfara State just days after deadly bandit attacks claimed several lives across the state.

According to reports, armed gangs have continued to terrorize Zamfara communities, with recent figures showing at least 24 people killed, 16 injured, and 144 abducted in coordinated assaults across multiple local government areas.

Despite the security crisis, PDP governors held a high-level meeting in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, on Saturday, August 23.

Reacting in a statement on Sunday, ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, condemned the move, describing it as grossly insensitive to the plight of grieving families and victims of the violence.

“It is shocking that while communities are mourning and families are still in anguish, PDP governors chose to gather in Zamfara for politics. This action demonstrates complete disregard for the people affected by these tragic events,” Abdullahi said.

The party urged political leaders to prioritize empathy, security, and people’s welfare over political maneuvering, especially in regions ravaged by persistent violence.
