Prominent activist lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has harshly criticized the administration of President Bola Tinubu following the federal government’s recent approval of a 50% hike in telecommunications tariffs.

The increase, which marks the first adjustment in telecom tariffs since 2013, has sparked widespread backlash, with the National Association of Telecoms Subscribers announcing plans to challenge the decision in court.

Reacting to the development, Adeyanju took to social media platform X to express his discontent. He described the Tinubu administration as a “government from hell” and accused it of exacerbating the suffering of Nigerians.

In his post, Adeyanju wrote:
“They just increased tariffs for all phone calls in the country. The government has vowed that it must finish off Nigerians with suffering. A government from hell. This year, I have zero tolerance for nonsense. If you come to my timeline to defend rubbish, I will block you. You can’t be praising a government that is destroying the lives of Nigerians and the economy daily and defending oppressors.”

The tariff hike has fueled public frustration amidst other economic challenges faced by citizens. Advocacy groups and civil society organizations continue to urge the government to reconsider policies perceived as detrimental to the welfare of Nigerians.
