Abia Mourns as Isuochi Monarch, Eze Godwin Ezekwesiri, Passes Away at 88

The Ochi 1 of Isuochi Ancient Kingdom, Eze Godwin Irononso Ezekwesiri, has passed away at the age of 88. The revered monarch, who ascended the throne in 1974 as the first traditional ruler of Isuochi Ancient Kingdom, reigned for 51 years, fostering peace and unity among the communities within the kingdom.

The passing of the monarch was confirmed by his son, Ikedi Ezekwesiri, a former state legislator, who described his father as a pillar of strength and leadership.

Reacting to the news, Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, expressed profound sadness over the monarch’s demise, noting that his death comes at a time when his wealth of experience and wisdom were still greatly needed.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Governor Otti praised the late monarch for his unwavering commitment to peace, unity, and community development throughout his reign.

“The Abia Chief Executive recalls that Eze Ezekwesiri used his over five decades on the throne to touch lives positively while ensuring peace, unity, and security in his kingdom in particular and Umunneochi as a whole,” the statement read.

Governor Otti extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late monarch and the entire Isuochi community, praying for the peaceful repose of his soul and the fortitude for the family to bear the loss.
