The Abia State government has condemned the recent surge in cult-related violence and killings in Aba, warning that it will not tolerate any form of criminality.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Ferdinand Ekeoma, the government expressed concern over the resurgence of cult activities, which had previously been curbed by the present administration.
Ekeoma emphasized that security agencies and intelligence officers have been deployed across streets, schools, and neighborhoods to track down cultists and restore order. He warned that anyone involved in cultism would face the full weight of the law.
Despite ongoing government initiatives to tackle youth unemployment, Ekeoma lamented that some young people were still engaging in criminal activities.
The government urged parents and guardians to caution their children and report any suspected cult activities, assuring residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property.
