In compliance with President Bola Tinubu’s directive, 20 victims of the tanker explosion that occurred last Saturday at Dikko Junction in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State have been transferred to the Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital in Abuja for advanced medical care.

The explosion, which has claimed 98 lives, continues to cast a shadow of grief over the region as some of the injured succumbed to their wounds while undergoing treatment in various health facilities.

In a statement released on Sunday in Abuja, Rabiu Ibrahim, Special Assistant (Media) to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, confirmed the ongoing efforts to provide critical medical assistance and reduce the burden on local healthcare centers.

Ibrahim also disclosed that two additional victims had been moved to the Federal Medical Centre in Jabi, Abuja, to ensure access to specialized treatment.

“All patients were accompanied by a nurse and family members during their transfer to ensure seamless care,” the statement noted.

The tragedy has underscored the need for strengthened emergency response measures and infrastructure in Nigeria, as efforts continue to address the aftermath of the devastating explosion.
