NewsNigerians deserve hardship they are going through – Apostle Suleman

Apostle Johnson Suleman, the Senior Pastor of Omega Fire Ministries, has sharply criticized Nigerians for their choices in the 2023 elections, claiming that the nation’s current struggles are a direct result of those decisions. Speaking during a two-day “Recovery Conference 2025” in Bauchi State, Suleman voiced his concerns about the country’s direction under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.

Before the mega crusade, Apostle Suleman visited the Bauchi State Government House, where he met with Governor Bala Mohammed and commended his leadership. The pastor assured the governor of his continued prayers for the state. However, during a press briefing, Suleman didn’t hold back his frustration over the state of the nation.

“What Nigerians are going through is partly what they deserve. Before the election, we cried out, we screamed, we yelled,” Suleman said, criticizing the 2023 election process. “The man (President Tinubu) who came into leadership had no manifesto—just a sense of entitlement with his ‘it’s my turn’ mantra.”

The pastor lamented the damage to Nigeria’s oil sector under Tinubu’s administration, predicting that the country may not recover in the next 10 to 15 years. He expressed deep concern over the mismanagement of national resources, emphasizing that only prayer could mitigate the crisis.

Suleman also urged Nigerians to reflect on their choices before the upcoming 2027 elections, suggesting that only a thorough reevaluation of their voting behavior could prevent further damage. “If they’ve suffered enough by then, perhaps they’ll make better decisions,” he said.

Echoing similar sentiments, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed warned that President Tinubu’s current policies could further erode the country’s fortunes. He criticized the lack of a clear vision in the administration’s reforms, particularly in the area of tax policies, stating that such reforms risked leading the country to destruction.

“I don’t have anything against the president but respect,” Governor Mohammed clarified. “However, if these policies continue unchecked, they will take us down a destructive path.”

Both Suleman and Mohammed’s remarks highlight growing concerns about the state of the nation, urging reflection and action as Nigeria approaches the 2027 elections.
