Senate President Godswill Akpabio has boldly declared that ahead of the 2027 general election, political parties in Akwa Ibom State have effectively collapsed in support of his re-election bid for the Senate.
Speaking on Friday during his midterm empowerment briefing held at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium, Akpabio said that the once-dominant Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) no longer has a firm grip on the state.
“As I speak with you, there is nothing like a political party in 2027 in Akwa Ibom State again. For the Senate of Ikot-Ekpene Senatorial District, all political parties have collapsed to vote for Senator Godswill Akpabio,” he said.
The Senate President, who currently represents Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District, added that the PDP’s symbolic umbrella has been “torn into shreds” and can no longer offer protection or relevance in the state.
Akpabio also commended the state governor, Pastor Umo Eno, describing him as a man of peace who genuinely serves God from the heart — unlike others who, according to him, merely pay lip service to their faith.
