The body of a tenant, Caleb Chiemele, has been discovered in a short-let apartment located within the LSDPC Estate, off Freedom Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State.
According to reports, Chiemele had been staying in the apartment since May 12. On June 12, concerned individuals, including the apartment owner, Adewole Olufemi, noticed Chiemele had not emerged from his apartment. When they peered through the window, they saw him lying motionless on the floor.
Upon realizing that Chiemele was unresponsive, the police from the Maroko Division were notified. Officers were dispatched to the scene, where they forced the door open and confirmed that Chiemele had passed away.
An anonymous source, who was not authorized to speak to the media, revealed that the body was discovered around 8 pm on June 12 and has since been taken to the morgue.
“The corpse was discovered around 8 pm on June 12, 2024, at a short-let apartment on the LSDPC Estate, off Freedom Way, Lekki Phase 1. The apartment is owned by Adewole Olufemi. He reported to the police that Caleb Chiemele had been staying in the apartment since May 12, 2024,” the source said. “Around 5 pm on June 12, they noticed that Caleb had not been seen since the morning. They decided to look through the window and saw him lying on the floor.”
The source added that the police were informed and upon arrival, forced their way into the apartment to find Chiemele lifeless. They subsequently moved the body to the mortuary.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that an investigation has commenced to determine the cause of Chiemele’s death. He added that the body has been deposited in the morgue for an autopsy.
