Kebbi Police Inspector Arrested for Allegedly Killing 20-Year-Old Boy

The Kebbi State Police Command has detained Inspector Nura Ahmad, attached to CTU Base 18 in Zamfara State, for allegedly shooting and killing a 20-year-old man named Ahmad Ibrahim. The incident occurred along the Zamare-Yauri road following an argument.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the arrest in a statement released in Birnin Kebbi. “Regrettably, on 13/06/2024 at about 0100hrs, Inspector Nura Ahmad, who was on stop and search duty along Zamare/Yauri road, was confronted by Ahmad Ibrahim, a 20-year-old from Yauri town. During the confrontation, the Inspector shot Ahmad Ibrahim in the chest. He was immediately taken to General Hospital Yauri, where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor,” the statement read.

In response to the incident, Inspector Ahmad has been arrested and is currently held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Birnin Kebbi. A thorough investigation is underway to uncover the details of the confrontation and the inspector’s unprofessional conduct.

The Kebbi State Police Command expressed condolences to the family and friends of Ahmad Ibrahim. “We pray for his soul to have eternal rest and for his family to have the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” Abubakar added.

The command assured the public that justice will be served and the results of the investigation will be disclosed in due course.
