COVID-19: Nigeria records 21 deaths, 387 new cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday, September 13, 2021 announced three hundred and eighty-seven (387) confirmed new cases of coronavirus, also known as COVID-19 in the country.

The confirmed cases of the pandemic is now near 200, 000.

The virus also killed twenty-one (21) people on Monday.

New cases of the pandemic have continued to rise for seven consecutive weeks across Africa including Nigeria, signaling the third wave as the country confirmed the deadly Delta variants.

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sunday July 11 in a statement announced a possible third wave of the pandemic in Nigeria.

Today’s report stated that: Four states with zero cases included Abia, Nasarawa, Ondo, and Sokoto. 1,700 recoveries reported for Lagos State from 11th September 2021 including community discharges. A backlog of 9 deaths reported from Lagos State,” NCDC said. As of Monday September 13, 2021, there are 8,492, active cases in Nigeria.

Here is a breakdown of cases by state; Lagos-114, Rivers-91, FCT-32, Edo-31, Delta-28, Kwara-20, Bayelsa-18, Akwa Ibom-15, Oyo-10, Osun-8, Gombe-5, Plateau-5, Ekiti-4, Ogun-3, Kano-2, Kaduna-1.
