Hon. Ekene Abubakar Adams, a member of the House of Representatives representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency in Kaduna State, has reportedly passed away after a prolonged illness.
Adams, who was serving his first term, died on Tuesday morning. He was the Chairman of the House Committee on Sports and had a notable background in football, having played for Remo Stars and served as the General Manager of Kada City Football Club of Kaduna. He was elected under the Labour Party in the last general election.
This marks the second death of a House member in the past week, following the passing of Hon. Akinremi Olaide of Ibadan North. Since the House’s inauguration in June 2023, four members have died.
Attempts to reach the House spokesman, Hon. Akintunde Rotimi, and the Chairman of the Kaduna caucus, Hon. Amos Gwamna Magaji, for confirmation have been unsuccessful at the time of this report.
