Police arraign man over alleged damage of N450,000 property

A 25-year-old man, Boluwatife Dare, on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting and damaging property worth N450,000 in Lagos.

Dare is being tried for conspiracy, assault and wilful damage.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Kokoye Olusegun, told the court that the defendant with others still at large had on February 19, conspired to assault one Joshua Lawrence.

Olusegun alleged that the defendant and others willfully damaged four glass windows and doors valued at N150,000, sign post worth N100,000 and electrical fittings worth N150,000.

He said that the damaged items worth N450,000, belonged to one Atanda Ismail.

Olusegun also told the court that the offences were punishable under Sections 412, 172 and 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs Sakirat Obasa, admitted the defendant to N150,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Obasa said the sureties must have evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the matter until March 27 for mention.
