As evidence that Peter Obi is not a party member, President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima presented a copy of the Anambra State Labour Party (LP) membership registration on Wednesday.
In their answer to the petition filed by Obi and the LP, Tinubu and Shettima contended that because Obi was not a party member at the time of the previous presidential election, he was ineligible to run on the LP platform.
LP’s letter, dated April 25, 2022, conveying the membership registration to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was also sent by their attorney, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN).
The papers were presented at the start of Tinubu and Shettma’s defense in the suit filed by Obi and the LP before the Presidential Election suit Court (PEPC).
Although Livy Uzoukwu (SAN), the petitioners’ attorney, objected to the documents being included, the court allowed them and designated them as Exhibits RA17 and RA18.
