Nigerian TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, popularly known as SeaKing, has been released on administrative bail following his arrest for alleged cyberbullying of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
SeaKing was taken into custody after he criticized Pastor Adeboye’s call for a 100-day fasting and prayer, branding the cleric as “very stupid and foolish.” His remarks prompted the Concerned Christian Youth Forum to petition the Nigeria Police, leading to his arrest and transfer to the Federal Investigation Department (FID) in Abuja, under the supervision of DIG Dasuki Galandanchi.
However, Pastor Adeboye intervened, urging the police to release the content creator, stating that SeaKing was merely addressing his “children.”
Activist and politician Omoyele Sowore confirmed SeaKing’s release on Monday via a post on X (formerly Twitter). According to Sowore, initial bail conditions requiring a Level 10 or 12 civil servant were rejected, leading to a renegotiation and eventual release on administrative bail, which he personally signed.
Sowore also acknowledged the efforts of human rights lawyers and activists, including Inibehe Effiong, Adeyanju Deji, Tope Temokun, and Marshal D.F. Abubakar, in securing SeaKing’s freedom.
The incident has reignited discussions on freedom of speech, cyberbullying laws, and religious sensitivity in Nigeria.
