Nollywood actresses, Iyabo Ojo and Nkechi Blessing have reacted to the directive by the Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria, TAMPAN, which bars its members from working with them.
Nkechi Blessing faces this penalty because of a fight on social media between her and actor Adams Kehinde popularly known as Lege Miami, over the sexual assault allegation against actor Olanrewaju James aka Baba Ijesha.
This is according to TAMPAN Chairman, Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr. Latin, at a press conference last Saturday.
Those present at the conference include Adebayo Salami, Jide Kosoko, Lanre Hassan among others.
According to Amusan, “Nkechi Blessing is not a member of TAMPAN, Iyabo Ojo is not a member of TAMPAN but they are practitioners who have benefited immensely from TAMPAN and the Yoruba movie industry as a whole.”
He said movie directors have been told not to work with Nkechi Blessing until the Association is through with its findings.
Kosoko who also spoke at the conference said Nkechi Blessing cannot be suspended because she’s not a member of TAMPAN.
He, however, said, “Even if the law says you are free to practice anything you like, we can frustrate you out of the industry if we want to.”
He added, “We can get you out of the industry in our own way. We will work against her in the industry.”
Concerning Iyabo Ojo, the Association said it has observed the derogatory remarks coming from the actress against its members. This is over the sexual assault allegation against Baba Ijesha.
The Association stated that such won’t go without repercussion, adding that it has directed its members not to work with her.
Reacting, Iyabo Ojo took to Instagram and Nkechi Blessing backed her up.
