South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron, 24, has been found dead in her Seongsu-dong apartment, police confirmed on Sunday.
Authorities reported that a friend discovered her body around 4:55 PM (07:55 GMT). Investigators found no signs of foul play, and an inquiry into the cause of death is ongoing.
Kim rose to fame as a child actress, gaining international recognition for her role in A Brand New Life (2009), which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. She later starred in The Man from Nowhere (2010), South Korea’s highest-grossing film that year, and received critical acclaim for her performances in The Neighbour (2012) and A Girl at My Door (2014).
Her career slowed after a 2022 drunk driving incident, for which she was fined 20 million won (£11,000) in 2023. Her final appearance was in Netflix’s Bloodhounds (2023), though much of her screen time was reportedly cut due to the controversy.
The investigation into her death continues.
