Renowned American gamer and speedrunner Niftski has once again etched his name in history, setting a new world record for the fastest completion of Super Mario Bros. with an impressive time of 4 minutes and 54.565 seconds.
The record-breaking feat, achieved on January 10, saw Niftski executing a near-flawless run, utilizing warp zones, optimized acceleration, and precise flagpole maneuvers. His excitement was evident as his heart rate soared to 177 beats per minute during the intense performance.
Dedication and rigorous practice have been key to Niftski’s success. The speedrunner revealed that he spends 90% of his time refining techniques and just 10% on actual speedruns—a disciplined approach he credits for his record-breaking achievements.
“I cannot stress how important it is to obey the saying ‘practice makes perfect,’” Niftski told Guinness World Records. “I spend at least 90% of my time practicing and 10% speedrunning, which I believe is why I’ve come this far in the game.”
Niftski’s accomplishment further solidifies his status as one of the most skilled speedrunners in the gaming world, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the classic 1985 title.
