Naira Marley, a street hip hop singer and rapper, must be in excruciating pain and sadness, as nearly 250, 000 people have signed a petition calling for the closure of his record label, Marlian Records, following the death of former signee, singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as MohBad.
The death of Mohabad, a 27-year-old fast-rising singer, has sparked outrage across the country and abroad, with many calling for an investigation into what caused his death.
The Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Command, had stated that an inquiry into the nature of Mohbad’s death had begun and that the singer’s body might be taken from the tomb for examination.
Following a petition of threat to life Mohbad submitted to the Lagos police before his death indicating that he was in a face-off with Naira Marley, there have been mixed reactions to where the death of the deceased musician came from.
Also recall that Naira Marley said in a statement on Friday that though there were disagreements that led to the late musician leaving the record label, he never wished any harm whatsoever on him.
Naira Marley who spoke for the first time on Friday since Mohbad died on Tuesday said “that there are so many things that are left unsaid but the love for Mohbad was always there, adding that he is ready to assist the police in uncovering foul play around MohBad’s death”
However, a Change.org petition initiated by an anonymous blogger requesting that an investigation should be carried out on why Mohbad could not appear before the police after he was previously summoned over his squabbles with industry executives, has garnered close to 250,000 signatures.
The petition called for a thorough investigation of the Marlian Music brand and Sam Larry Elegushi, the music promoter.
As the actual cause of Mohbad’s death remains unknown, Joseph Aloba, his father, revealed that Mohbad died after an auxiliary nurse was invited to inject him.
