The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has confirmed the arrest of popular dancer Idowu Smart Emmanuel, known as Lil Smart, following a petition filed by singer Naira Marley.
The arrest, announced by police spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Friday, comes nearly two weeks after Lil Smart’s sudden disappearance sparked public concern.
In a viral video circulating online, Lil Smart was paraded by authorities and accused of criminal defamation, cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and spreading falsehoods. According to the police, the dancer admitted to making false allegations against Naira Marley and expressed regret for his actions.
“Following a filed petition for criminal defamation, cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and falsehood, the Force secured the arrest of Idowu Smart Emmanuel, who eventually admitted to his crimes and confessed that his allegations were false,” Adejobi stated.
Lil Smart’s arrest follows a controversial post he made on December 9, 2024, where he alleged that Naira Marley and singer Zinoleesky had threatened his life. The dancer later filed a petition against both artists, leading to further speculation online.
His sudden disappearance had drawn public outcry, with Nollywood filmmaker Stanley Ontop accusing Naira Marley of orchestrating a secret arrest.
With the latest confession from Lil Smart, the case has taken a dramatic turn, raising discussions on the impact of social media accusations and defamation in the entertainment industry.
