Popular Nollywood actress, Wumi Toriola, has been hospitalised following intense online backlash over her recent outburst against veteran actor and director, Afeez Owo, the husband of fellow actress Mide Martins.
Trouble started after Afeez Owo, in a recent interview, gave his take on Wumi’s movie character. Unhappy with his remarks, Wumi openly called him out on social media, sparking heated reactions from fans and netizens who accused her of disrespecting the actor.
The wave of criticism appeared to have taken a toll on the actress, who on Thursday morning shared a photo of herself from a hospital bed.
In the caption, she wrote: “Internet dragging and ICU are siblings.”
In a follow-up message, Wumi admitted she had heard the concerns raised by fans, promised to “do better next time,” and pleaded for well-wishes.
“I have heard you all, will do better next time. Wish me quick recovery,” she added.
Her post has since stirred mixed reactions, with many fans expressing both concern and sympathy for her wellbeing.
