Popular Hausa singer Hamisu Breaker and TikTok personality Abubakar Ibrahim, widely known as G Fresh, have been arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) before the Federal High Court in Kano for alleged abuse of the Nigerian currency.

The case, presided over by Justice Sale Musa Shuaibu, saw both entertainers plead guilty to charges related to the spraying of Naira notes at public events.

Following their guilty pleas, the court sentenced each of them to five months imprisonment with an option of a ₦200,000 fine.

Hamisu Breaker was convicted for spraying ₦30,000 in ₦200 denomination notes at a party held in Hadejia, Jigawa State.

Similarly, G Fresh was found guilty of spraying bundles of ₦1,000 notes during a shop opening ceremony in the Tarauni area of Kano State.

The EFCC, in its continued crackdown on the abuse of the Naira, reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the provisions of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, which criminalizes mishandling of the national currency.
