London, UK – American R&B star Chris Brown has been arrested by UK police in connection with an alleged bottle assault that took place at a London nightclub in February 2023.
According to The Economic Times, the 36-year-old singer was taken into custody in the early hours of Thursday by Metropolitan Police, who tracked him to The Lowry Hotel in Salford, shortly after his arrival in the UK aboard a private jet.
The arrest stems from an alleged unprovoked attack on music producer Mr. Diaw at the Tape nightclub in Hanover Square around 3 a.m. on February 19, 2023. The case is being handled by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.
Mr. Diaw alleges that Brown struck him multiple times with a bottle, then punched and kicked him while he lay on the ground. He was later hospitalized and left needing crutches during recovery.
Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, Diaw claimed, “He hit me over the head two or three times. My knee collapsed as well.”
In addition to the criminal investigation, Diaw has filed a civil lawsuit against Brown, seeking $16 million (£12 million) in damages for injuries and financial losses incurred.
The arrest could throw Brown’s ongoing “Breezy Bowl XX Tour” into disarray. He is scheduled to perform 10 more shows across the UK next month, including two nights at Manchester’s Co-Op Live stadium and a date at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.
The tour, marking 20 years of Brown’s music career, features top R&B acts Summer Walker and Bryson Tiller.
As of now, neither Chris Brown nor his management has released an official statement regarding the allegations or his arrest.
