Mumbai, India – Manoj Kumar, the iconic Bollywood actor and director renowned for his patriotic films, has passed away at the age of 87. The actor, whose health had been declining for some time, was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai, where Dr. Santosh Shetty confirmed his death, attributing it to age-related health issues.

Kumar, born Harikrishan Goswami in 1937 in Punjab, became a household name with films such as Shaheed, Roti Kapada Aur Makaan, and Kranti. His portrayal of nationalistic themes resonated deeply with Indian audiences, earning him a special place in the country’s cinematic history.

His son, Kunal Goswami, confirmed that the veteran actor had been struggling with health complications for a while. Kumar’s significant contributions to Indian cinema were recognized with multiple prestigious awards, including the Padma Shri and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest honor in Indian film.

The news of his passing has prompted an outpouring of tributes across social media. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X, describing Kumar as an “icon of Indian cinema,” and praised his work for inspiring a deep sense of national pride. Renowned filmmaker Ashoke Pandit also expressed his sorrow, calling the loss “a great loss to the film industry” and highlighting how the entire industry would miss his presence.

Manoj Kumar’s legacy continues to shine brightly in the world of Indian cinema, ensuring his influence will endure for generations to come.
