Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has reacted to a viral video of a man, Fatai Odunsi, who claims to be his father and has accused him of abandonment.
In the emotional video, Odunsi, who said he has been battling a stroke since 2022, appealed for financial assistance, alleging that Asake had cut ties with him.
“The last time I saw him was in March 2022 when my illness began. If I call Asake, he won’t pick up. Please help me; I need your support,” he pleaded.
Amid the controversy, Asake took to social media, seemingly addressing the claims through a song. The singer, who reportedly parted ways with Olamide’s YBNL record label, suggested that his father was attempting to manipulate him despite his financial support.
Singing in Yoruba, he stated: “You can’t please the world. Whatever you do, do it for God and always remember the day you’ll die and meet your Creator. My people, can you see? Even my father wants to cajole me. I used to support him financially and did so wholeheartedly. No one can quench my fire; God is the one guiding my path.”
Asake’s response has since sparked mixed reactions among fans and social media users, fueling debate over the nature of his relationship with the man who claims to be his father.
