Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has shed light on the current state of his relationship with fellow Afrobeats giants Wizkid and Burna Boy, stating that he no longer shares a personal bond with the duo.

In a recent interview on The Breakfast Club, the Fem crooner noted that while they once had a closer connection, times have changed. He also emphasized that the global conversation around Afrobeats has moved beyond the long-standing narrative of the genre being dominated solely by the “Big 3” — himself, Wizkid, and Burna Boy.

“I don’t have a personal relationship with them [Wizkid and Burna Boy]. I did at some point in time… The conversation is bigger than the ‘Big 3’ right now; there’s Rema, there’s Ayra Starr and other artists. Right now, I think the three of us understand that it is bigger than us,” Davido stated.

The award-winning singer also addressed rumors surrounding his relationship with songstress Tiwa Savage. Dispelling talks of a serious fallout, he described her as family.

“Tiwa Savage is my sister for life. I love her and her child — we are family. Our fight is just like a brother and sister’s fight. I will never allow anything to happen to her,” he affirmed.

Davido’s comments come amid growing discourse on the evolution of Afrobeats and its new wave of global stars redefining the genre’s future.
