Sadiya Umar-Farouk, the former minister of social development, disaster management, and humanitarian affairs, has arrived at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission headquarters to speak with interrogators regarding an ongoing investigation into the N37,170,855,753.44 that was purportedly laundered during her time in office through a contractor named James Okwete. She arrived on Monday morning at around ten a.m.
“I have, at my behest, arrived at the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to honour the invitation by the anti-graft agency to offer clarifications in respect of some issues that the commission is investigating,” Umar-Farouq tweeted on her handle on Monday morning.
The former Minister had previously formally written to the EFCC to request an extension of the time frame for meeting with EFCC questioners on an ongoing investigation into N37,170,855,753.44, which was purportedly laundered during her term in office through a contractor named Okwete, who claimed to have health issues.
