The Department of State Services (DSS) has freed Abdulrasheed Bawa, the recent former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

President Bola Tinubu suspended Bawa in June, and since then, he has been held by the secret police.

Willie Bassey, the Director of Information of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation’s office, stated that Bawa was placed on leave due to serious accusations of misusing his position.

Recall that Bawa refuted allegations made by Bello Matawalle, a former Zamfara State governor and Minister of State for Defense, that he was seeking a $2 million bribe.

The suspension, according to Bassey, was necessary to allow for a thorough inquiry into his actions while in office.

Although Bawa’s exact release time remained unknown, a video appeared to show him being greeted by his spouses and kids.
