The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has notified members of the public of the existence of a fake LinkedIn account, supposedly belonging to Abdulrasheed Bawa, Executive Chairman of EFCC.
EFCC, in a statement signed on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, said the account is being promoted by an impostor.
“The account which is promoted by an unknown impostor is, unfortunately, attracting unsuspecting followers desirous of networking with the Executive Chairman of the EFCC.
“The Commission states that the account is fake and has no relationship with the EFCC Chair.
“Consequently, members of the public are warned to be circumspect and desist from further interaction with the impostor whose motives are sinister,” EFCC said.
Bawa was confirmed in February by the Senate as the new chairman of the EFCC after the suspension of Ibrahim Magu, following allegations of insubordination and corruption leveled against.
The forty-year-old has worked with the anti-graft agency for 16 years and is a Certified fraud examiner and anti-money laundering expert.
