EFCC recovers two pump-action rifles, apprehends 57 suspected internet fraudsters in Ogun

Two Pump-Action rifles have been recovered, while 57 persons alleged of internet fraud were arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibadan Zonal Office on Friday, March 12, 2021.

The suspected fraudsters were arrested at their hotel hideouts, the EFCC’s Head, Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, said in a statement.

Uwujaren disclosed that the suspects were arrested at Yewa Frontier Hotel & Resort, Ellysam Hotel & Suites, April Suites and IBD International Hotels, all in Ilaro, Ogun State.

According to him, the operation was carried out by EFCC operatives, after actionable intelligence linked the suspects to alleged fraudulent activities, ranging from love scam on numerous dating sites, obtaining money by false pretenses and other cyber crimes.

Uwujaren added that aside the two rifles, four exotic cars, mobile phones, laptops and several incriminating documents were recovered from the suspects.

Among the 57 suspects were Olatunji Opeyemi, Akintunde Michael Oluwashola, Babatunde Gbolahan, Emmanuel Oluwadamliare, Ogundare Adewunmi, Popoola Salmon, Adebayo Toheed Olamilekan, Bakare Kudus, Michael Moyosore, Olatunji Tosin, Ishola Wasiu, Biodun Okeowo Sunday, Aiyemidotun Moses Omolade, Alade Hammed Oluwatosin, Oladele Dolapo Temitope, Ugwu Ekenedilichukwu David and Salaudeen Roqueb.

Others included Obafunmilayo David, Jimoh Fatai Abiodun, Idowu Adeola,Oladipupo Nurudeen, Olasoju Mohammed, Onipede Toheed, Bello Abdullahi, Olatunji Abiola, Ogunbayo Peter, Adeyemi Abraham Ismail, Toheed Oluwaseun, Abiola Mutiu, Shoneye Idowu, Badmus Farouk kayode, Ilyas Abubakri Olanrewaju, Oladeji Basit Babatunde and Ijiola Soliu Adewole.

The rest were Odewumi Samuel Pelumi, Oyeniyi Teslim Olanshile, Shogbamu Olatunbosun Lukman, Adebanji Timilehin Michael, Bamgbose Jonathan Olakunle, Ashore Damilare Godwin, Bello Tobiloba Abdullahi, Ogundeji Babaji Ibrahim, Bashir Ayodeji Toheeb, Olaleye Biola Farudeen, Sunday Oshonaike Emmanuel, Adebowale Taofeeq Olamilekan, Babajide Oluwapelumi Bolaji, Oliyide Ridwan Olawale, Abdullahi Umar Farouq, Opeloyeru Kehinde Abdulwaheed, Adeola Olusegun Israel, Shittu Ganiyu Olamilekan, Abdullahi Narudeen Owolabi, Ganiyu Kudus Olawale, Ogunrinde Gbenga Akanbi, Awobaju Kanyinsola Damilare and Bello Uthman Olaniyan.

The Media and Publicity Head said that they would be charged to court as soon as investigations had been concluded.
