On Thursday, gunmen suspected of being Fulani herders assaulted a Benue Links bus carrying people to Otukpo en way Naka Road Gwer West LGA at Tyolaha village. During the marauders’ attack, one passenger was killed and numerous others were injured.
This is not the first time roving herdsmen have carried out such heinous attacks on travelers along the deteriorating route. Tyolaha village has been the target of numerous attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

Most residents have fled, and farmers have relocated off that stretch of road, while the remaining locals seek protection from the government and security forces.
Anekwe Catherine, a Benue Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident, saying “A bus belonging to Benue Links which was heading to Otukpo was attacked by unknown gunmen and three persons including women were wounded and one person died this morning.”
