IGP Egbetokun
The unsettling occurrence on June 29, 2023, in Ekpoma, Edo State, when a police squad ran a car over a person, has been denounced by acting Inspector-General of Police Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
The victim is shown being forced to lie on the floor with his hand and leg tied in the viral footage. When the police who were operating the bus moved and ran over the victim, the residents shouted repeatedly before he stopped driving.
The erring policemen, who have been held in custody in Edo State, have been ordered by the acting IGP to report to the Force Headquarters Abuja on Monday, July 3, for further action, according to a statement issued by the police command’s spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
Adejobi stated that the general public, especially the residents of Ekpoma, are urged to maintain their composure since the NPF’s current leadership will not tolerate such an illegal and unprofessional act.
