Nnamani Daberechi, a 19-year-old student, was arrested by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) agents for attempting to export 7.2 kilograms of methamphetamine concealed in crayfish.
Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, stated this in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja.

According to Mr Babafemi, the suspect was apprehended at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja while on his way to Europe for undergraduate studies. He stated that the suspect was apprehended on the 15th of July during an outbound screening of passengers on Turkish Airlines flight TK 0624.

“During a conversation with operatives, Daberechi claimed to be a student travelling to Cyprus for studies. However, after a thorough search of his luggage, they discovered 7.2kg of a whitish material neatly hidden inside a sack of crayfish.

“A field test of the substance, however, proved positive for Methamphetamine, ” he said.
