Bashir Unguwar Shekarau, a native hunter, and Mustapha Adamu and Malam Muktar, also known as “Teacher,” two commercial drivers, were all murdered by bandits in the Kaduna-Birnin region of Kaduna State.
On Saturday, October 21, 2023, at about 3:30 p.m., the two commercial drivers were travelling back to Birnin Gwari when the bandits started shooting at their cars.
Shehu Randagi, a local of Birnin Gwari and a family of one of the victims, informed the Daily Trust that another driver also suffered eye loss after being shot and that the other driver was being treated at the hospital in Birnin Gwari.
It was discovered that the neighbourhood hunter was tragically shot last Wednesday when their patrol car came under fire.
“Our hunters were attacked, resulting in the death of one on Wednesday. That was before the Saturday attack that claimed the lives of two commercial drivers along the highway,” he stated.
He claimed that Auwal Stable, the driver who lost an eye, and the other three injured people were being treated at the hospital.
Randagi, who bemoaned the constant murders in the region, claimed that nearly every day, the villagers had special funeral rites for those whose bodies were missing.
